        Kudibal portraits

        Rebecca Elbek

We believe in sharing knowledge to inspire and empower. In KUDIBAL PORTRAITS, Dea Kudibal meets extraordinary women to share their stories.

This time, we visit Rebecca Elbek at home north of Copenhagen to talk about motherhood, career and love — joined by her four daughters.

As a jewellery designer, Rebecca creates unique pieces inspired by bohemian style, fairytales and nature — worn by Kelly Rutherford, Nicole Kidman and Gigi Hadid.

She shares her thoughts on parenting, expectations, and the joy of raising four girls.

        What is your love language?

“I think it's very much physical touch and words. We hug a lot, and we’re also a generation that uses words like 'I love you,' which our parents might not have done as much.”

Have you ever written letters to each other?

“I’ve written little notes for them if I was going on a short trip, but other than that, I’ve only written letters to my children when they’ve been traveling. It’s nice to write a
physical letter when you miss your kids.”

If you could write a letter with just one sentence for your daughters, what would you say?

“The simple things are often the hardest. I think I would write – 'I love you' and maybe encourage taking chances, living life, and not taking things too seriously."

        Life Lessons Passed Down

What is one piece of wisdom you would include in a letter to your daughter that you wish someone had toldyou?

“I think I would tell my daughters that things happen as they are meant to, and the bumps you encounter along the way help shape and strengthen you, just like when children get sick – it’s not something you enjoy, but it’s a big part of building their immune system.”

If you had to write a letter to your younger self, what advice would you give, and how does it relate to the guidance you give your daughter?

“Go. Go out into the big world. It’s the same thing I tell my girls: Go. Even though I’ll miss you, go, because they have a safe base here at home that they can always return to.”

How do you balance career and motherhood, and do you think your daughters feel pressure to do the same?

"I have no ambitions for my daughters to follow in my footsteps or any career ambitions on their behalf. They should find their own path."

        Letters of Love and Legacy

If this were the lastletter you could ever write to your daughters, what would it say?

“I think I would remind them to rest in themselves - the more aware you become of it, the easier it is because then you make choices based on that.”

What are the most important values or lessons you hope to pass down to future generations?

“I want them to make their own experiences, and then to just be able to be there when needed. But I think I often give too much advice, when perhaps I should just listen instead."
