DREAMS OF THE ORIENT
I’m captivated by the Far East, where traditional craftsmanship meets elegant innovation. The beauty of Eastern aesthetics—graceful colours and intricate patterns—inspires designs for the Dea Kudibal woman. This fusion of Eastern refinement with Scandinavian minimalism evokes a quiet strength and effortless elegance, and expresses appreciation for artistry, heritage, and the fusion of cultural influences.

The timeless allure of the oriental world has always been an enduring inspiration for designers in the west, particularly at Dea Kudibal where the craftsmanship, style and understated elegance are reinterpreted with a Scandinavian sensibility to create something truly special. For this collection, the colour palette and prints look to the subtle beauty of a Japanese garden on an autumn morning with the flowers, leaves and trees seen through a mist that renders them soft and poetic. Delicate shades of rosewater pink, porcelain white, dove grey and pale blue capture the light when in signature silk blouses and give an air of sophistication to the many printed dresses. Bold kimono-inspired lotus blooms acquire a new sense of femininity when rendered in soft tones of blue whilst fern leaves in warm autumnal tones and chrysanthemum flowers mixed with paisleys on a jacquard base create equally beautiful effects. Elsewhere cherry blossom is recoloured into hues of indigo for a fresh take on an Asian motif.
Outerwear is an important part of any Autumn/Winter collection and this season it mixes sculptural shapes with a sense of sophisticated ease. A black wool coat is chic with lantern sleeves and a cross-over front fastened with a single artistic metal button. An oversized wrap coat in a salt and pepper wool-mix offers elegant protection from chilly weather and a slim-fit chalk-stripe option with military pockets has a more urban vibe. Tailoring too reflects the falling temperatures with a textured chain-stripe suit with wide leg pants being a stylish option for the cooler months and checked bouclé is used for a brass-buttoned dress, long waistcoat and short pleated skirt. Japanese workwear inspired denim mixes East and West in a smock shirt with brass fastenings in a gentle indigo wash or a wrapped tie-belt jacket with stand collar overprinted with flowers.

For a more dressed-up vibe, black makes a strong statement this season with an architectural sleeved blazer in deluxe cotton creating a bold silhouette when worn with a slightly cropped tapered pant. Vegan leather trousers, with the lustre of Asian lacquer, are chic with a sculptural leg shape whilst lightweight wool in jet black is sensuous in a body-skimming dress with a rouleau loop belt. And, as evening falls, a graphic chrysanthemum jacquard in black and white makes a stunning belted jacket and full skirt.
Another essential element of an Autumn/Winter wardrobe is knitwear and here Dea Kudibal brings together the practicality of warmth with an unerring eye for style and detail. A bold intarsia fair isle and cable pullover is scattered with hand embroidered flowers and an alpaca blend cardigan has feminine scalloped edges and balloon sleeves. Lace effect knitting is used for a short jacket with pockets and a luxurious cashmere cardigan has delicate pointelle details whilst variegated ribs pull a button-through dress into a fitted shape for a truly elegant and dressed up look. A matching A-line skirt is an unusual and chic addition to a wardrobe and perfectly embodies the mix of tradition and innovation that can be expected from a fusion of Scandinavian design and Far Eastern inspiration.
